Logistics Manager (Manufacturing
A multinational Leader in Paper manufacturing with over 8000 employees, turnover of approximately 2.2billion Euros wants an experienced and enthusiastic Logistics Manager to join their depot in Scotland.
The role is based in Kilsyth just outside of Glasgow. You will report in to the Regional Director for Scotland and financially report in to the Industrial Director for the UK.
The role of the Logistics manager will be to coordinate and control the application of the logistics strategy and policies, adapting them to the needs of the warehouses, with the aim of increasing the efficiency and quality of service. There is a number of depots you will be coordinating on across Scotland and the North East of England. Therefore a little flexibility to make site visits on occasions is a must.
As part of this important, challenging and responsible role for the business you are to ensure compliance with all group policies related to quality, safety, equality and environment.
- You will be asked to calculate and analyse logistical indicators and offer support to the delegates in each warehouse, provide tools for improvement, advice for making better use of the resources available.
- You will look after recruitment of personnel related to logistics, drivers, admin staff for the warehouses alongside your HR delegates.
- Coordinate all warehouses in their relations with subcontracted personnel in transport and logistics activities according to management guidelines
- Work to enhance aspects of motivation of personnel reporting to you. Monitor drivers via interviews, together with the traffic operator in each warehouse.
- Propose logistics targets for each of the centres to Management, monitor them, analyse results and propose measures for improvement according to the results obtained.
- Direct and propose all logistics projects, at company, area or group level.
- Monitor traffic operators at the different warehouses, checking correct performance of their work and their situation in the company. Carry out follow-up interviews with the delegate.
- Unify criteria and work methods at the plants, providing a global view that leverages all existing synergies.
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate at least 5 years in a similar position within a Logistics Company/Depot.
You will have to show excellent knowledge in organising the logistics of the business, dealing with large volumes of stock and stock movement in and out the warehouse, dealing with delivery's and collections on behalf of clients.
- Import and Export knowledge is not necessary for this role and is not required.
- Any experience of working within the paper/packaging/recycling/waste industry from a logistics/warehouse management perspective will be seen as a huge advantage.
- You must possess a technical engineering Degree/Diploma or postgraduate qualification in Logistics.
- You must show good examples of team management, leadership and motivation.
- You must have experience of controlling health and safety site issues and policies
- You must be able to deal with customers directly, show good initiative and innovation and be able to influence your decisions and choices.
- You must have a strong character that can deliver good ideas for change and improvement and be able to back them up through to board sign off and implementation.
- You must have a good strategic background and vision for the future.
