Role Definition

The role of the Logistics Planner will include developing viable, efficient, cost-effective and innovative Construction Logistics Plans for construction projects around the UK.  Travel and overnight stays within the UK would be required.

The role will include working closely with the Client, local authorities, various internal departments, operatives on site and Group Companies to ensure most efficient overall traffic and logistical plan for the company and the Client and assisting with planning projects for companies within Group.

You will be required to assist in developing tender schemes, planning scenarios for additional work and improving existing ways of working, ensuring sites have at least best practice procedures for traffic and logistics management plans.

You will also be assisting in the management of live project plans as required, working with the Traffic Advisor and departmental manager.

Job Description

The role will include the following;

Primary Duties:

To produce planning schemes in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and other site safety regulations
To produce Tender Stage Construction Logistics Plans in conjunction with relevant personnel, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and contractual requirements, utilising: supplied Client information, site investigations, internet research, Innovation, 1:1 modelling and logical planning and analysis of issues and development of feasible logistical solutions.
To maintain successful Construction Logistics Plans as resources / workload demands
To attend site and meet with clients to clarify tender and live project requirements in relation to logistical and traffic management issues
To assist in the preparation of tender documentation such as swept paths and  logistics pions
To prepare drawings to the required standard, observing quality management standards and making subsequent revisions to support tender bids and live project development
To undertake other duties inside and outside of the normal scope of works to support the beneficial development and operational effectiveness of the Alandale Group
To adopt a flexible work approach as and when required by sites and head office.
To develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, clients, local and enforcing authorities and other personnel as required
To prepare concise reports based on factual data, either presenting a reasoned argument for the proposed course of action to report other data as required
Gathering, analysing and reviewing information from various sources.
To maintain a sound level of knowledge in respect of quality, safety, traffic and environmental legislation
Supporting / liaising with site teams contractors to oversee work to ensure its timely and accurate completion

Person Specification

HNC / higher construction qualification - (Essential)
A valid UK driving licence - (Desirable)
Demonstrable experience of developing innovative and successful Construction Logistics Plans including experience and competence in developing 1:1 technically based Logistics Traffic Management Plans (Essential)
Demonstrable experience of planning Tower Crane and Hoist positioning, outline capacity requirements and outline programme demand - (Essential)
Able to understand and interpret construction programmes - (Essential)
Able to negotiate with Local / Enforcing Authorities and represent / present to Clients - (Essential)
Strong report / submission writing skills and attention to detail/accuracy - (Essential)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Producing reports to assist planning requirements - (Essential)
Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with enquiries / complaints professionally - (Essential)
Ability to apply a Consultancy approach to Clients pre-construction / live strategy development - (Essential)
Ability to work using your own initiative and cope with pressure - (Essential)
Competence in using AutoCAD - (Essential)
