Our growing global organization with challenging supply chain opportunities is seeking a results-oriented candidate who can contribute to the achievement of world class metrics.  The chosen candidate will be responsible for:  

·         Managing and coordinating all activities within shipping receiving departments and associated staff including hiring, training and performance management.

·         Utilization of knowledge in the areas of negotiations, carrier routes rates and shipping receiving procedures to meet customer delivery requirements. 

·         Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments

·         Determines shipping requirements, number and style of truck for all outgoing shipments

·         Ensures space is utilized effectively to cost and service requirements

·         Analyzes and standardizes procedures to improve shipping and receiving efficiency

·         Oversees packing/crating operations within shipping department to ensure quality

·         Oversees loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications

·         Performs regular facility and safety inspections and audits within shipping receiving departments

·         Evaluation of supplier performance, as well as, put together a comprehensive strategic logistical plan that best optimizes budgeted ship dollars, including cost savings.

·         Evaluate freight costs associated with in outbound services to ensure that costs are appropriate

·         Identify and implement cost reduction improvements in the logistics of material movement

·         Develop and maintain relationships with freight companies and transload facilities to meet the needs of shipments to customers

·         Prepares monthly quarterly data tracking spend, fuel, surcharges, and shipping/receiving department goals

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. 

·         Strong leadership skills, ability to command staff, strong character

·         Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities

·         Ability to work and interact with all departments throughout the organization

·         Advanced MS Excel skills; previous experience with an ERP system required, with familiarity of JDE preferred

·         Effective multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment

·         Familiarity with OSHA rules and regulations. Safety-focused attitude

·         Knowledge with international shipping a plus.

·         Strong time management skills and customer focus

·         Ability to make decisions effectively within dynamic environment
