Role Description
The selected individual will be experienced working with Lotus Notes Domino Servers and clients during upgrades and while migrating to an Exchange environment. This person would be the senior person a team of two Notes Administrators and also part of a bigger application administration team for supporting 1500 users. Although not directly responsible for day to day Helpdesk tickets, this person would be responsible for managing projects in this team and doing high level configuration and troubleshooting for the back-end servers and systems related to email and notes client applications (both web and client). This person would also be in charge of interfacing with the upgrade team and providing support for both the Lotus Notes upgrade (V6.5.4 to V8.5.2) as well as the migration project to Microsoft Exchange
Task
Configure domino servers and assist with troubleshooting performance issues related to NSD or crash files
Troubleshoot mail routing issues (NRPC, SMTP, POP, IMAP) as needed including support of Blackberry and Traveler Domino Servers
Troubleshoot Domino clustering issues as needed and come up with a monitoring strategy going forward using third party Notes tools
Bring online new domino servers both for testing new functionality on existing servers and configuring new features in the existing environment.
High Level support of End users of Notes client in a tier 4/5 position
Escalating tickets and coordinating troubleshooting with Notes Development resources to resolve issues
Required Skills and Experience:
6+ Years Experience with Domino System Administration (V5-V8.5.2)
3+ Years Experience with troubleshooting Lotus Notes client issues
Relevant experience with IBM Lotus products (R6 and above) for messaging and collaborations, such as Messaging, Domino web application
Experience with relevant server platforms and operating systems (Windows ), directory services (LDAP), SMTP/MIME
Understanding of DNS and basic troubleshooting skills as it relates to the Domino Application/Mail servers
Specific experience in setting up Domino Servers (V6-V8.5.2) and troubleshooting Domino Notes Client and Web Applications.
Experience with Domino web site documents, global domain documents, connection documents (replication and mail routing within Notes Named Networks as well as simply with weighted connections documents).
Experience working in several different cross certified Notes domains for both applications and messaging.
Experience with Notes Client Policies enforcement
Must be willing to work flexible hours and will need to be on-call (on-call is defined as having a pager and responding to emergency calls from 4:30 am to 10 pm, Mon-Sun, every third week)
Ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the messaging team's knowledge of and concern for customers' business needs
Solid project management skills in planning and monitoring projects in a cross-functional environment
Effective teamwork and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, in a multicultural environment
Preferred Skills:
Domino CLP
Familiarity with Lotus Domino ID Vault Function and Managed Replica function in V8.5.2
Experience Administering Blackberry for Lotus Notes, Sametime and Traveler
Experience with SPAM Appliances such as IronMail or IronPort or SAS Solutions for managing SPAM such as Symantec.
Experience with Email Migration projects either to Microsoft Exchange or to the Cloud
Administering Microsoft Exchange 2008 or 2010
SharePoint Administration
