Low Latency Linux Engineer

Linux Engineer specialising within Low-Latency architecture required for my Investment Banking client base in London. This position will responsible for understanding client requirements, turning them into deliverables and enhancing the current platform use by the client.

Candidates will need the following experience:
- Extensive experience in managing, designing and optimising low latency electronic trading technologies and systems
- Excellent client facing skills.
- Strong specialism around Low Latency architectures, network, storage, system and database technologies
- Algorithmic and high frequency trading environments
- Architecting and managing low latency high volume network and systems

Candidates will require the following technical skill set:
- Detailed understanding of Linux internals kernel
- Expert knowledge of Red Hat performance tuning
- In-depth knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux, and preferably SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
- Experience with developing Puppet manifests
- Source code management: git, Subversion, etc.
- Excellent understanding of networking
- Good understanding of low-latency middleware and protocols
- Solid understanding of hardware solutions from servers to FPGA appliances.
- Good understanding of Exchange protocols and trading systems across multiple asset classes
- Broad knowledge of other Unix Operating Systems and associated add-on technology stacks
- OS level problem analysis and tuning experience (memory, disk, network, file system, etc.) -
- Expert level of scripting (Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash)
- C/C++ and related tool-chain experience is an advantage
- Solid understanding of the TCP/IP stack and Multicast/unicast exchange connectivity a must.
- Understands the front office business in equities and fixed income
- Knowledge of Algorithmic/DMA/HFT and trading platforms and how the trade lifecycle operates a must.
- ITIL/Six Sigma qualification a plus
