LPN Clinical Research

Responsibilities Performs duties related to clinical research projects, including investigator initiated, pharmaceutical and device trials. Conducts clinical research studies with investigators while maintaining the highest standards of data security and human subjects protection through the adherence to departmental and Summa policies and procedures (including FDA, OHRP, and HIPAA regulations). Conducts literature searches, develops and updates study protocols, maintains research study compliance, designs and completes case report forms, and provides nursing care. Formal Education Required - Graduate of an LPN nursing program from an accredited school Experience Training Required - Two (2) years recent professional nursing experience which can be a combination of medical, specialty care, and or surgical experience in hospital or acute care settings - Experience with computer software, including patient management systems and all Microsoft Office products - Two (2) years experience with clinical research preferred - Experience with IRB policies, procedures and submissions preferred - Experience with obtaining informed consent and enrollment processes for research projects preferred - Experience with data entry and management preferred - Experience with literature searches, specifically using PubMed preferred Other Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications - Current licenses to practice practical nursing in the State of Ohio - Maintains Basic Life Support certification - SOCRA or other clinical research certification is preferred. If no certification, it must be obtained within 24 months of the date of hire. - Ability to work in fast-paced environment and maintain a mindset that is flexible, positive, optimistic, and congenial. - Ability to follow study protocols - Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/family members/guests/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. *This is a grant funded position.
