M&A FIG Associate recruitment

The FIG team is one the best and most highly regarded in the City having a very strong advisory and debt function operating throughout Europe Asia and the US. This connected approach has served the bank very well and means there is very little internal politics in the way of getting deals done and the firm is willing to invest where their competitors have pulled out of deals resulting in increased deal-flow and improved sentiment in the market.

The specific role is to sit within the Benelux team and deal with extensive deal volume primarily coming from the Netherlands and Belgium following the privatisation of a lot of firms during 2008/9 and continued consolidation within these markets.
While the clients will be domiciled within these jurisdictions many of the client firms the bank is working with are multinational corporations and there will be plenty of scope to work on cross border deals all over the globe.

While the FIG team in London totals around 50 people in London the specific Benelux team has only 5 dedicated team members along with access to the pool of juniors and specific MA execution team. The idea is to expand this dedicated team due to the increased deal-flow so they can originate and execute themselves providing a full level of service to their clients. There is a team on the ground in the Netherlands that also helps with the whole deal process.

Due to the fact the team is small the role will have a lot of responsibility in leading the execution process of deals, interacting directly with clients and counterparties and generally getting a lot more full cycle deal experience than would normally be the case within a bulge bracket organisation. Allied to this is the fact the team is very busy working on live mandates so the role will be focussed more on delivery than searching for new business.

As this is a highly sought after position the bank is being very selective so candidates must be able to demonstrate:
*Bulge Bracket trained - must have been through an Analyst training programme (Could now be with a boutique)
*Excellent modelling skills and full understanding on the MA process
*4-6 years MA experience
*Minimum of 2 years FIG experience
*Ability to train and mentor junior staff
Additional skills/experience that is desirable but not essential:
*Dutch or French language skills
*Experience dealing directly with clients, both face to face and over the phone
