Machine Learning Analysts recruitment

Summary:

A Quant-driven Hedge fund is seeking talented Machine Learning Analysts to join their dedicated Machine learning Desk. Prior experience in finance is not required, although they would expect the successful candidate to express a demonstrable interest in learning the markets. The Fund are a leading London-Based team of around 100 employees focused entirely on Systematic Trading. The firm runs an extremely successful quantitative trading platform, running mid-term to ultra high frequency strategies and operating across Equities, FX and Futures.

The Role:

The dedicated Machine learning desk is seeking world leading experts in the Artificial Intelligence field to implement a diverse set of models applicable to automated trading. The role involves developing machine learning techniques and applying them to seek patterns in large, dirty and noisy data sets. A firm understanding of the underlying mathematics will be needed to adapt modeling techniques to fit the problem space. The aim of the team is to be at the forefront of machine learning and pushing its boundaries into new and exciting areas.

Candidate:

A prerequisite is an extremely strong background in mathematics and computer science. A post-graduate degree in 'machine learning' is desirable though the strongest candidates will perhaps have been trained with a Bayesian approach. The successful candidates should be able to understand the theoretical justifications for the machine learning techniques as well as be able to create the software to apply the techniques, and where necessary develop those techniques into new areas.

Background requirements:

The candidates should have created at least one concrete example of a machine learning algorithm, so they will have proven skills in the area. The ideal candidate would be someone who has been a post doc researcher in machine learning who has applied the techniques commercially in a non financial area.

Numerical programming is an integral part of the role: experience in an object oriented language is very desirable. What is essential is practical, hands-on ability to apply mathematical concepts to real world financial problems, to implement theoretical insights as working code, and the ability to work independently in a research environment.

The fund is looking to grow the Machine Learning team over the next 6 months so if you are a senior expert in this field or coming close to finishing your PhD, we would be keen to hear from you.
