voestalpine Rotec Inc. was established in Lafayette in September 2000, focusing on the production of precision cut tubular components. A Tier 2/3 supplier, 100% of our products are supplied to the automotive market mainly for products related to anti-vibration, welded assembly and safety systems. We are part of the multinational voestalpine group.

As a growing business, we are currently in search of Machine Operators. 

 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

*  Run assigned piece of equipment
*  Set assigned piece of equipment
*  Wear all necessary PPE and workwear to safely perform duties
*  Perform TPM on equipment as directed
*  At all times maintain a clean, safe and tidy work area, this includes the removal

    of spills and identifying potential hazards
*  Perform all necessary quality checks (as per works instruction) in a timely

    manner and document the results where required
*  Weigh/count and book in manufactured product
*  Attend shift meeting
*  Complete necessary paperwork as a record of work performed
*  Retrieve consumables and consumable tools from vending system
*  Interact with computer system as required for accurate stock maintenance
*  Run multiple pieces of production equipment or equipment plus other assigned

    tasks
*  At all time adhere to the "purge" procedure and flag all "potential" quality issues
*  Contribute to the Company's "Continuous Improvement" culture, through

   submitting ideas on the proforma sheets provided
*  Return used tooling/gauging to tool area for clean and storage
*  Report all faulty safety lockout devices and on going maintenance issues

   through the correct reporting procedure
* Label "suspect" material accordingly and quarantine to ensure that a non-

   conforming product is not shipped
*  Other tasks assigned by Supervisor

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative to those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

BODY POSITIONS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, and crouch periodically.

BODY MOVEMENTS:  The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals, a variety of metrology gages and devices, and bending, reaching, and crouching, periodically.

BODY SENSES:  Must have command of all five senses:  sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens and metrological gages to close forms and lens gauging devices.

STRENGTH:  Must have the ability to lift 25 Pounds with regularity.

 

General Working Conditions:

 

This position will be working primarily indoors in a climate controlled, low-smoke environment.  Work will be required in the factory on a regular basis.

The position is regularly exposed to noisy conditions, fluids, and airborne particles.

1.  The noise level will require the use of standard industrial ear protection devices for sub-90 DBA levels.

2.  There are fluids including grinding oils, cutting fluids, and typical shop cleaning fluids, which can regularly touch the skin.

3.  There are airborne particals including grinding dust, occasional welding fumes, and mists from water-based machining and cutting fluids.
