Job Description Job Summary: The Machinery Engineer position is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Machinery Engineer will provide proactive technical guidance for the reliable operation of plant machinery, as well as assist in reactive technical troubleshooting of day-to-day operations. Job Function: ?Apply engineering theory, practices, and principles to determine root cause of equipment failures and to perform performance evaluations. ?Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to develop programs which will obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment. ?Provide direction to resolve field related problems around rotating equipment including coaching and training as needed. ?Provide technical support in project development, QA/QC, installation, and start-up. ?Provide technical support on all phases of machinery turnarounds from work scope definition, through planning, execution, and documentation. ?Apply reliability principles in obtaining optimum solutions on rotating equipment problems and new equipment selection. ?Develop and implement equipment asset plans using RCM and other reliability techniques. ?Provide technical support and participate in risk based analysis on machinery work lists. ?Determine how process variable changes impact machinery reliability. Job Requirements: ?Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. ?Knowledge of machinery used in refining and petrochemical production including compressors, pumps, steam turbines, gas turbines, electric motors, fans, mixers, extruders, etc. ?Understanding of aerodynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, rotor dynamics, strength of materials and application of these topics to machinery design, performance analysis, and troubleshooting. ?Ability to lead and manage others. ?Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects - each with multiple tasks. ?Ability to perform root cause failure and analysis. ?Familiarity with machinery auxiliary systems, including lube oil, seal oil, hydraulics, monitoring systems, control systems, and protective systems. ?Familiarity with industry standards such as API, AGMA, and NEMA. ?Understanding of machinery vibration analysis including data collection devices and systems as well as data interpretation. Preferable Related skills: ?Minimum 5 years of equipment engineer work experience in petrochemical plant or equivalent understanding of petrochemical processes. Job Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
