We trade the full range of energy commodities, take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits and optimise and hedge Vattenfall’s generation assets.
Within AOT, the Business Unit Asset Optimisation Continental is responsible for production planning, dispatching, logistics as well as developing and implementing the hedging strategy for Vattenfall’s production assets in Continental Europe. These activities are the basis to manage risk efficiently and optimise the portfolio value.
For our office in Hamburg we are looking for a:
Macro Economic Analyst (f/m)
This position is focusing on conducting macro economic analysis and evaluting the impact for the relevant energy markets (continental power, fuels, emissions). You will be responsible for developing economic indicators and GDP scenarios for major economies and to provide a macro economic framework for energy market analysis. Your work will be shared and discussed with your team colleagues and will result in a comprehensive outlook for the energy markets, which forms the basis for strategic decisions in regards to hedging Vattenfall’s exposure on the European energy markets.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Monitor, interpret and predict trends for major economies (e.g. GDP, inflation, FX)
- Develop and interpret leading economic indicators
- Derive GDP scenarios for the next 5 to 10 years (liquid and illiquid trading horizon)
- Provide monetary and fiscal policy analysis for the Euro zone and major influencing currency zones
- Support energy market analysis through macro economic research
- Monitor and summarize external macroeconomic analysis (e.g. from IMF, OECD)
Requirements:
- University degree in economics or similar
- Professional experience in macro economics
- Knowledge of fuel and emission markets a plus
- Strong analytical and modeling skills
- Team-oriented and strong communication skills
- Fluent in English and German (verbal and written)
