Maintenance Electrician

 

Berwick Offray is a leading provider of decorative ribbons, bows, gift wrap, gift bags and tissue. Our manufacturing facility in Berwick, PA is currently recruiting for an Electrician to join our team.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:        

·         Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment

·         Connect power supply wires and cables to machines/equipment following manuals, schematic diagrams

·         Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures.

·         Replace faulty electrical components of machine, relays, switches, motors, positions sensing devices

·         Diagnose/repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards

·         May push and press keys on machine controller, teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery

·         May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in building.

·         May diagnose/replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic components of machines equipment.

·         Repair or replace PLC’s and make changes to programs to run new product

·         Recommend, design, install, test electric/electronic enhancements to existing new machines and equipment.

·         Implement company safety policies/procedures good housekeeping practices for department facilities.

·         Keep inventory and order all electrical and electronic parts.

·         Accept varied job assignments, meet deadlines other challenges work independently or on project teams

·         Be available for overtime as needed and accept phone calls at home when necessary from shift mechanics to answer their questions about electrical or electronic parts and problems.

·         Recommend changes or additions to improve safety, production, quality and cost.

 

Must have working knowledge of practices procedures in electrical field, typically acquired through 2 -4 yrs of undergraduate work or equivalent - Associate degree in electrical field, electronics or related degree highly desirable. Extensive knowledge of electrical and electronics controls and systems and the ability to read and comprehend schematics. Electrician’s license desired – may be required within first year. Five years experience in electrical and electronic work. Proficiency with electrical troubleshooting and repair of components needed. Must be receptive to shift changes, overtime and fielding calls at home for trouble shooting during off-shifts. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and perform physical work.
