Maintenance Engineer
Work with an International Client
FT - PERM role in North Bay, Ontario
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:
Produce the required documentation for various mill mid-size to small capital projects as assigned by the mill engineering manager. Supervise the implementation of the projects (construction) as these projects are approved by the client management.
SCOPE:
- As related to the field engineering services, this position shall:
- Meet with client personnel to assist in preliminary planning and identifying design concepts.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation and write-ups of project scope and activities for each capital project assigned.
- Assist in mill and / or vendor meetings as required.
- Identify requirements / implications of other engineering disciplines to deliver a complete project scope.
- Perform the duties of a Project Engineer or Project Manager on assigned projects.
- Supervise and coordinate project activities of engineers and specialists assigned to support the project.
- Coordinate project activities and information flow with other disciplines.
- Liaison with Montreal resources to complement any missing resources / requirements.
- Review vendor drawings to verify drawings and equipment supplied meet project requirements.
- Perform quality check of construction and bid packages prior to formal issue to verify adherence to all pertaining codes and client standards.
- Meet with local, provincial or federal government personnel as either the client’s representative or advisor to discuss or secure approvals as appropriate.
- Organize construction and bid packages to verify all required documentation is included and issued.
- Assist in obtaining bids for construction, selection of contractor, and act as liaison during construction.
- Provide on-site construction support of contractor inquiries and support system and equipment check‑out and start‑up.
- Perform shop inspections and/or vendor expediting during equipment fabrication if requested by the client.
- Perform administrative and other miscellaneous tasks as may be required.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers and positively reinforce the goals of the project and company.
Qualifications:
At least 10 years experience as a Project Engineer/Maintenance Engineer/Mechanical Engineer for pulp and paper mill client or similar industries.
