We currently are seeking a talented Maintenance Mechanic II. This key position will be based in our operation facilities in San Fernando, CA (So. CA).
Position Summary:
Responsible for performing a variety of skilled mechanic work to set up production equipment, perform preventive maintenance, lubrication of equipment, and minor mechanical and facilities repair. This is the intermediate level of the job family, and incumbents are expected to perform any or all duties independently. This includes performing troubleshooting and repairing the basic mechanical, electrical and facilities malfunctions.
Responsibilities:
- Uses hand tools, portable power tools, machine tools, electrical/diagnostic equipment, fabricating equipment, and material handling equipment to make repairs to facilities and equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyor belts, fans, etc; examines equipment to diagnose problems; disassembles machines and repairs/replaces broken parts; constructs new parts; adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance on mechanical and/or electrical equipment such as making regular inspections and lubricating moving parts. Able to perform a wide variety of maintenance task across operations.
- Completes production run set-ups and changeovers on Manufacturing/packaging equipment as scheduled. Involved in training Equipment Operators on basic trouble shooting skills.
- Develops and maintains some knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment used by Pharmavite; reviews maintenance manuals when troubleshooting a problem or to learn how to repair something.
- Identifies needed parts and orders them, within approval limits, as necessary.
- Contacts vendors and other resources to investigate the repair of production machinery.
- Uses computerized maintenance management system to access information.
- Involved in Continuous Improvement teams and participates in project activities. Strong problem solving skills directed at preventive programs to develop solutions to manufacturing problems.
- Performs duties in compliance with standard operating and safety procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A High School diploma or its equivalent is required.
Certification:
Technical certification preferred
Experience:
Requires a minimum of five years of training and experience in similar positions in Maintenance and Manufacturing environment
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Skills that include proficient knowledge of at least one of three mechanical and fabrication skills as defined under the mechanic skills matrix.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial electricity and administrative skills.
- Completion of basic electronics course work within one year of employment
- Demonstrated knowledge of the computerized maintenance management system
- Demonstrated knowledge of Windows operating system and software applications (i.e. spreadsheets or data bases)
- Fluent English skills to read/understand complex maintenance manuals, safety procedures, communicate with supervisors, vendors and others, and maintain routine records such as materials lists and labor requirements
Physical Requirements:
Stand/walk and perform physical labor for most of the working shift. Pull, push, squat, etc. to accomplish repairs. Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds
Environment:
Intermittent exposure to noise levels loud enough to require the use of hearing protection. Warm or cold temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc. sufficient to cause minor discomfort. The need for the employee to wear a uniform, hair net, safety glasses, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, dust mask, respirator, protective gloves and back support, as necessary.

The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
