Maintenance Mechanic Job in Toronto M3a3p9, Ontario Canada

 

Summary of Duties:

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform a variety of maintenance services including providing general maintenance on a variety of equipment along with the production line coverage, and must be able to work efficiently in resolving urgent issues.  Specific duties include:   

 

Ø       Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve and troubleshoot various types of machinery and equipment in the processing and packaging departments.

Ø       Diagnose mechanical problems, provide quick and innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving.

Ø       Operate a mill, lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and all other machine shop tools.

Ø       Set-up, takedown and relocation of process and packaging equipment.

Ø       Frequently modify packaging and process equipment for new products.

Ø       Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.

Ø       Provide solutions to routine or unique equipment problems.

Ø       Promptly respond to equipment related issues with customer oriented manner.

 

Requirements:

 

The successful candidate must have 3 to 5 years of proven experience working in a food, beverage, or pharmaceutical processing plant with de-palletizers, hydraulic drives, packaging machines, casers, case washers, stackers, homogenizers, separators, pumps, high speed fillers and conveyors.  Other requirements include:

 

Ø       Minimum grade 12 High School Diploma and a valid Ontario Millwrights and Maintenance License.  A Third Class Stationary Engineer or Refrigeration B Ticket would also be considered an asset.

Ø       Good knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.

Ø       Excellent problem solving skills.

Ø       Excellent knowledge of Health Safety and Lockout Procedures.

Ø       Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management software.

Ø       Strong oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills.

Ø       Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with lots of change.

Ø       Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Ø       Familiar with WHMIS, GMPs, good health and safety work practices, strong customer orientation and a positive “can do attitude”.

 

The Maintenance Mechanic is a unionized position - the salary, benefit plan, and pension plan is based on current collective agreement standards.
