Hot Springs National Park is often referred to as "America's first National Park" because it is the oldest protected area in the National Park system. The thermal springs flowing down the side of Hot Springs Mountain are the primary resource of the park, and it is well known for its thermal springs and related bathing activities, also for its mountain lands and over 26 miles of mountain trails. Hot Springs National Park receives approximately 3.2 million visitors who take advantage of the baths, massages and hiking trails, while others collect drinking water at park jug fountains, stroll along Bathhouse Row taking in the history and culture of the "American Spa", or drive to scenic overlooks on the park's mountain roads. The park has a complex water systems operation in addition to the normal utilities of electrical, natural gas, sewer and water. The park operates a thermal water collection, storage and distribution system which has over seven miles of pipelines, a cooling station, a pump station and several large storage reservoirs. All systems operate 24 hours, seven days a week. You will collaborate in planning, programming, coordinating maintenance and construction operations. or activities associated with the buildings. WORK CONDITIONS: In and out doors; exposure to all temperatures and weather, insects, dust, and noise. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires considerable standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and crawling. Occasional use of scaffolds, ladders etc. and working in cramped and uncomfortable positions.
