The Maintenance Planner will provide support to the maintenance department and ensure that all preventative maintenance programs, projects and day to day activities are planned, scheduled and coordinated with manufacturing to optimize production runs and minimize down time in support of achieving Zero Harm, Zero Waste and 100% Stakeholder Satisfaction.
This position will be accountable for maintenance planning, scheduling, inventory control and CMMS setup and maintenance. The incumbent will also lead and facilitate root cause analysis of downtime occurrences utilizing Systematic Problem Solving and other tools and techniques in support of ESCO’s Business System QVS (Quality, Value, Speed).
Job Responsibilities:
· Generate, assign and follow-up on work orders and ensure that all the required materials are available to complete scheduled work.
· Purchase maintenance supplies and parts for daily and preventative maintenance while monitoring and controlling costs.
· Maintain and establish professional relationships with new and existing vendors and contractors and coordinating planned contract work.
· Manage and maintain all aspects of the Oracle eAM Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS). Ensure that all maintenance work is properly entered, conduct work order analysis and audit the system to ensure accuracy.
· Generate and analyze various reports in the CMMS system and other computerized software to assist in continuously improving the preventative maintenance program and guiding the site in achievement of other key performance indicators related to Maintenance.
· Analyze stock quantities of spare parts and general use items and recommend stocking levels to support increased critical equipment uptime while optimizing inventory levels.
· Schedule regular service visits (ex: heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical etc.) as required.
· Investigate and analyze machinery downtime to assist in determining preventative and corrective actions to eliminate reoccurrences.
· Assist in the research and development of maintenance policies/procedures and training programs to meet departmental and company objectives.
· Participate in plant audits and maintain records to ensure maintenance activities are compliant for safety, environment and quality requirements.
· Continuously update MSDS inventory for all maintenance hazardous products and ensure to keep a log of all active contractors for clearance certificate purposes.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:
· Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or other equivalent technical program.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a maintenance planning role.
· Must have knowledge of heavy industrial mechanical maintenance work processes and preventative maintenance activities, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Previous exposure to millwright/electrical requirements and PLC programming preferred.
· Knowledge of occupational health safety standards a definite asset.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely with others.
· Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management Software would be a definite asset. Minimum 1 year background in Oracle EAM required.
· Technical background and thorough knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical equipment and industrial standards.
· Ability to read and interpret blue print drawings. Strong mathematical skills, including units of measurement
· Strong interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills.
· Self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
· Organized with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Physical requirements – may be required to lift 30-40 lbs periodically.
