Summary:  Directs and coordinates activities of all crew members during a Turn in processing materials or manufacturing products, (Coke), in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not intended to be an all inclusive list.  Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Ensure the safety of all personnel on Turn / in the Plant

o   Thorough understanding of all Standard Operations Procedures

o   Communicating with and be aware of all persons in the Plant and their whereabouts

o    Continuous upkeep and update on all safety procedures

·                     Fully comply and follow the Bargaining Union Contract

·                     Supervise Maintenance Crew – electrical/mechanical during Turn

·                     Plans maintenance tasks, staffing/overtime and assignments, establishing priorities and sequences,  including coordination of all activities necessary, per Turn, to ensure that  Batteries and all necessary Ovens are safely functioning to push and charge according to the Pushing Schedule.

·                     Implements written policies, procedures and technical improvements to increase job safety and minimize downtime in order to maximize production.

·                     Establish and maintain Preventive Maintenance program for mechanical/electrical equipment.

·                     Responsible for meeting Maintenance budget, including communicating with vendor and contractors to implement cost effective measures.

·                     Comply with all State and Federal Safety and Environmental regulations

·                     Conduct staff / Crew meetings as required

·                     Report, investigate and communicate all accidents, incidences and problematic issues with the proper personnel

·                     Per Turn, completes and reviews maintenance and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

·                     Directs the inspection machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

·                     Reviews and assures compliance to standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

·                     Collaboratively works with Human Resources Manager to resolve worker grievances in early stages of grievance process.

·                     Responsible for directing and functioning as a team member to meet or exceed coking production schedules.

·                     Performs other duties as assigned.

·                     Provides regular performance feedback to subordinates and develops subordinates skills/knowledge to encourage growth

·                     Prepare the Plant for the next Turn assuring readiness to be operational

o   Clean up

o   Assuring crews are fully staffed

§  Making the necessary arrangements

·         Asking people to work overtime

·         Calling people to work overtime

·                     Open communication with customer in regards to production and coordinating efforts assuring smooth transition of the product (COKE)

·                     Acting Plant Manager while on “Back” Turn
