Maintenance Supervisor Job in Cambridge, Massachusetts Us

Primary Role:

Inspect and verify the quality of work to insure a "right the first time" policy in corrective and preventative maintenance.
Review work order documentation to insure clear compliant explanations are provided to document work results and outcomes.
Assist mechanics in working with Manufacturing supervisors and leads in the scheduling of work to insure minimal disruption to Manufacturing operations.
Assign work to team members to effectively and efficiently execute on deliverables and customer expectations.
Review and enhance equipment and system test procedures to promote consistent improvement in team maintenance and repair method performance
Provide in-house expertise to mentor mechanics in equipment maintenance and repair.
Performs troubleshooting of the most complicated equipment and systems to facilitate repair and root cause analysis of equipment or system breakdowns.
Evaluates equipment performance and recommends improvements to maintenance program and system design.
Leads the process of insuring spare parts are available to maintain system operability based on system performance reviews and spare part risk assessment evaluations.
Support group compliance in the execution of work and the support or resolution of quality systems.
Insure that maintenance practices are reviewed and supervised appropriately to insure safe work habits. Identify and drive improvement opportunities in this area.
Coordinates release and acceptance of Plant equipment and systems according to current maintenance procedures and practices.
Identifies individual team member training needs. Provides training and guidance to maintenance personnel.
Provides input in scheduled performance reviews and assessments for the maintenance mechanics.

Support the team financial budget goals through effective scheduling of team personnel to accomplish assignments, maintaining purchase orders and reviewing invoicing of vendor work supporting group goals

Responsibilities:

Schedule corrective and preventative maintenance. Coordinates maintenance activities with manufacturing supervisors. (10%)

Inspect and review work to insure a quality standard that insures right the first time repairs. Provide in-house expertise to support maintenance and troubleshooting of complex problems, review work order documentation to ensure clear compliant explanations are provided to document work results and outcomes. (40%)

Evaluates equipment performance and recommends improvements to Maintenance program and system design. (10%)

Provide effective coaching to the team of mechanics. Identify individual training needs and career growth opportunities for team members. Consistently promote a culture that is in alignment with plant and team goals. (20%)

Support group safety, financial and compliance goals. (20%)
Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated abilities and/or evidence of training in repair, operation, and troubleshooting of electromechanical process equipment and utility systems
Experience with control systems, PLC's, SCADA, and BMS systems preferred but not required

Extensive relevant experience in Bio-pharmaceutical, petrochemical, packaging, or power generation industries

Key Skills and Competencies:

Good communication skills and ability to provide training and supervision to contractors. Good knowledge of the Plant facility and process equipment and system. Competency in maintaining and reviewing facility related cGMP documentation.

Complexity and Problem Solving:

Performs troubleshooting of critical facility and process equipment. Makes decisions on operations and maintenance of critical Plant equipment and systems. Ability to handle emergencies on vital process equipment with minimal or no supervision. Makes recommendations to maintenance management on equipment performance and design improvements.

Internal and External Contacts:

Facilitates maintenance activities with manufacturing leads and supervisors. Actively interfaces with customers and cross functional support to insure appropriate service to manufacturing. Maintains communication with contractors and supply vendors to support equipment and system service and maintenance is prompt, efficient and effective.

Other Job requirements:

Should be able to climb a ladder, reach, bend, and lift loads up to 50 lbs. Valid Driver's license. Travel between all Shire HGT sites is required. Incumbent will be required to carry a cellular phone / Blackberry device and to be on call to support Manufacturing operations.
