Maintenance Supervisor Job in Indianapolis 46201, Indiana US
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Familiar with sheet metal fabrication, press repair and rebuild, general product assembly and assembly automation equipment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and lead the maintenance team to achieve operations, quality, safety, and continuous improvement goals through training, coaching, discipline, and effective communications
- Champion the use of ACE tools to reduce downtime, improve quality, and achieve labor efficiency targets
- Model and promote adherence to environmental, health and safety policies and initiatives
- Collaboration with maintenance planner to schedule manpower and resources
- Ensures safety is top priority when assigning work
- Monitors work order progress and drives quality and timeliness of completion
- Inspects assigned work for completeness and captures completion comments from skilled trades
- Maintains timecards and overtime records
- Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
- Good knowledge of maintenance methods and equipment across the disciplines
- Ability to lead a multi-discipline team both as a supervisor and in a technical capacity
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline
- Makes significant contribution to the team by applying knowledge of the discipline
- Works with moderate guidance on projects with short-term focus
- Has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and role while continuing to develop specialized knowledge
BS/BA or AA/AS technical degree preferred or equivalent work experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years progressive experience in a manufacturing setting required
- Strong background in supervising maintenance teams required
- Production supervision experience required
- Must possess a current journeyman card (Tool Die, Machine Repair, Maintenance/Electrician)
- Ability to make suggestions and informed decisions quickly
- Technical background in engineering or skilled trades
- Possess strong organizational, leadership and time management skills
- Highly motivated and possesses superior follow-up and follow-through skills
- Able to motivate and lead employees
- Background in progressive manufacturing management environment
- Experience supervising union-represented employees
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to learn and use software applications including Outlook, Excel, TMS and Word
- Must be willing to work first or second shift as well as required overtime
