Maintenance Technician - Night 12 hour Shift

Plan and perform a variety of production related duties requiring a considerable degree of skill and ability.  The position holder must be capable of operating, modifying, troubleshooting, repairing, installing and maintaining production machinery and equipment.  The incumbent is trained in the operation of various manufacturing processes such as glucose evaporation, sugar systems, mixing, sheeting, etc.  This position requires basic machinist skills, experience with hydraulics, metal smith work and knowledge of plumbing and steam fitting.  The position holder must be able to make precise adjustments to machinery.  The incumbent performs preventive maintenance on various manufacturing equipment and in addition, is responsible for all maintenance related to conveyors located throughout the factory.  Conveyor maintenance includes troubleshooting and repair of conveyors in manufacturing, sheeting and all wrapping departments including packing and finished gum coolers.  This position is also responsible for maintaining industrial trucks used throughout the factory.  The position holder must have the ability to work independently with minimal guidance from department supervisors.  The incumbent must be capable of working in confined space and is required to adhere to regulations and policies covering confined space.  Mechanics working in confined space are trained in first-aid and CPR. The position also requires the incumbent to obtain a "hot work" permit as necessary.  Must be able to operate industrial trucks and man-lifts.  General Maintenance Mechanics working third shift are also trained in performing start up procedures on all production equipment.  This position requires 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience.  A technical diploma in Industrial Maintenance or related field is a plus.  Finally, the position holder is trained to fill-in or back-up other mechanics within the Maintenance Department during vacations and absences.
