Maintenance Technician
U. S. Steel is seeking Mechanical Maintenance Technicians for its East Texas Tubular Products mill.
Primary Responsibilities Requirements:
Installs, maintains and repairs a broad range of mechanical systems and equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and power transmission systems. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical operating systems and equipment. Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs and provides assistance in operating functions as necessary to maintain continuous operations. May work alone with minimal supervision or other maintenance technicians.
Work Environment:
The job is within a heavy industrial environment and you may be required to work within various areas of the mill. Dependent upon the area you will work in, the environmental conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.
As you also know, the position requires you to work rotating shifts, which will include Saturdays and Sundays. The position also requires you to work overtime as needed.
Additionally, safety is our highest priority and safety procedures/guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes safety wear such as hard hat, goggles, hearing protection, and protective clothing and work boots with metatarsal protection. Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to the success of the operations in general as well as contributing to an overall positive team atmosphere.
Education: Must have high school diploma or GED.
Requirements: Must have one year of industrial maintenance experience and be able to pass an assessment test.
