Our Life Science division offers a unique and challenging opportunity for a Maintenance Technician. Perform repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance on process equipment used in the manufacturing operation. Troubleshoot complex equipment and control systems problems, including electrical, mechanical and pneumatic. Review work performed, according to Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). Maintain accurate record of repairs in accordance with Good Manufacturing Procedures and FDA regulations. Coordinates and executes projects supporting production maintenance strategies. Examine, diagnose, and correct operational issues related to the equipment in the process of manufacturing and plant building areas. Analyzes unusual and complex equipment problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows equipment Maintenance Guidelines by performing daily equipment startup and shutdown.
- Applies electronic theory, principles of electrical circuits, electrical testing procedures, and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify development and production electronic equipment.
- Setup standards test equipment and conducts functional operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
- Repair defective production equipment as needed and following establishing procedures, guidelines and GMP’s regulations.
- Complete execute of preventive maintenance procedures and tasks to assigned equipment.
- Complete documentation needed for History Records, computerized Database, Inventory Control, etc.
- Respond to production’s needs to maintain lowest possible scrap and highest possible productivity during set-ups, stats-ups, change over, etc.
- Housekeeping of assigned work areas both during and after interventions.
- Makes changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine mechanical and electrical malfunction.
- Modifies machine design to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Analyzes and interprets tests data. Adjusts, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance. Writes technical reports and develops schematics to describe and illustrate systems operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.
- Assist in executing qualification protocols.
- Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
- Prepare purchasing requisitions for spare parts.
- Analyze and interprets PLC programs, troubleshooting of PLC program, modify logic programs as required.
- Support during computer program validation and start-ups.
- Knowledge to support during the validation process of PLC, Vision Systems and Radio Frequency Welding (RF) processes.
- Performs other tasks as required by Production Maintenance Supervisor.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results; keeping business information confidential; administering the system security; ensuring data accuracy and integrity; maintaining updated professional and technical knowledge; assuring systems compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate standards; ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
- Complies with QSR, ISO and all applicable regulations and company procedures.
- Acknowledge and maintain commitment with the environmental policy, and participate actively in the environmental programs to achieve the objectives and targets with their area.
- Participate in the development of environmental improvement projects, which imply the minimization, all possible negative environmental impacts of daily operations and activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge in PLC Allan Bradley. Logic 5000, Pneumatic System, Ultrasonic Welding, Robotics, Control and Vision System.
- Knowledge in installation and troubleshooting of electric distribution systems and control panels.
- Understand ladder program language, knowledge of Radio Frequency and Ultrasonic Welding.
- Excellent Problem Solving Techniques.
- Good Multiple Task Management.
- Solid mechanical, analytical and technical skills.
- Knowledge of measurement equipment and fixture.
- Computer literate.
- Good read and written communication skills (English and Spanish).
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Instrumentation or Engineering Technology.
Four (4) to six (6) years of work related experience in maintenance in regulated industries.
