Maintenance Technician - Luton - Up to £30,000

Our client is World class design, developer and manufacturer of leading edge, innovative chassis structural and suspension products, body in white structures, modules and systems for the global automotive industry.

A global network of world class facilities capable of manufacturing a range of body in white and chassis structural and suspension products strategically located throughout the world.

They know seek a maintenance engineer to join their Luton branch.

Job Purpose:

To provide breakdown support to manufacturing areas, carry out improvements and preventative maintenance on equipment at our Luton site.

3. Principle Accountabilities

The repair, maintenance and refurbishment of manufacturing facilities to achieve world class efficiency targets. Including advanced Maintenance technical support on major system failures.

Timely response to equipment stoppages

Facilitate improvement activities and techniques to realise cost savings and improve productivity within manufacturing processes and equipment.

Develop and facilitate preventative maintenance systems programmes, and downtime analysis systems.

Adherence to appropriate plant systems (Pm, recording downtime)

Key performance indicators such as equipment OEE

Ensure company electrical standards are adopted and adhered to for all new and modified equipment and maintain electrical / electronic systems.

Establish and control the maintenance budget system including spares.

Pro-actively support new installations from commissioning stages through to start of production, identifying and progressing improvement opportunities.

Support equipment commissioning and installation projects
Maintain conformance to TS19649 working procedures.

Ensure strict adherence to safe working practices and observe safety rules at all times.

This position may involve call outs and overtime working to meet the demands of the position from time to time.

4. Technical Expertise Required

City Guilds 17th edition regulations

Completed a recognised electrical or mechatronic apprenticeship within a similar environment.

HNC / ONC electrical qualifications preferred

Reasonable level of mechanical aptitude including welding, fabrication and mechanical fitting

IT literacy, applications such as, Word, Excel, AutoCAD

Experience with PLC (programmable logic controllers) and HMI’s (human machine interface) is essential preferably also with solid experience in pneumatic and hydraulic systems

Knowledge of the Mig welding and Spot welding process

Ability to coach others

ABB Robots (S4C, S4, IC5)

Mitsubishi E900T HMI screens.

Mitsubishi PLC’s

Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required

5 years experience within an automotive maintenance environment

Working to the latest European Health and safety harmonized standards

Experience in project, supplier / contractor management.

Experience in a high volume just-in-time environment.

Experience in a high pressure, customer focussed environment.

Good communicator at all levels and ability to produce technical reports.

Flexible, team orientated and self-motivated approach to work.

Ability to coach others

Physical Environment

Shop floor based.

Working under pressure to tight deadlines in very close proximity to the customer.

Shift work – Double days, some weekend and night work.
