Management Associate
The Management Associate position is an entry-level position within United States Steel Corporation, which prepares the college graduate for supervisory responsibilities at its various operating facilities. The Management Associate–Materials Management will receive training in the following areas
Materials Management – Contract Management
Works with vendors to scope projects,schedule work, monitor progress and audit results. The types of work the vendors perform include: cleaning, construction, maintenance, environmental, etc. This position works closely with the plant operations, maintenance and engineering departments as well as the corporate procurement department. Vendor performance is evaluated based on safety, cost and value.
Materials Management – Warehousing
Works with the operations and maintenance staff to determine optimum-stocking requirements for all materials used in the plant operations. To be successful, all materials must be identified, the stocking strategy determined and in the corporate inventory system. Also, works with the Materials Management hourly workforce to operate the warehouse efficiently. The day-to-day tasks must be performed routinely to ensure on time delivery to the plant customers. These tasks include issuing, kitting, delivery, returning, repairing, and cycle counting. Performance is measured daily and audits are performed routinely. Safety and housekeeping is key to the overall operation.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Science, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Computer literacy with working skills in Microsoft Office products is required. Preferred candidate will have experience in an industrial setting.
