Management Consultant -Sr Project Manager III, Optum PMO

Responsibilities to include:
- Provides strong leadership and judgment and has direct responsibility for the successful execution of large scale cross-business and cross-functional Program Initiatives that are designed to achieve key business objectives. Typically these programs are defined as high cost, highly complex and/or high risk.
- Provides overall program leadership including managing the development of all project-specific documentation (project charters, metrics, project governance structure, detailed project plans, issues logs, etc.) and translating highly complex concepts in way that are understood by a wide variety of audiences.
- Predicts customers needs, including but not limited to staffing for program needs and future staffing demands based on program transition into business operations.
- Understands connections of business strategy to program initiatives and as such can develop and implement appropriate tactics to objectives.
- Develops strong, workable tactics to implement programs that meet identified business objectives.
- Displays a very high level of comfort in working with senior and executive leadership. Works closely with them to understand business needs, priorities and complexities. Identifies risks/issues and associated options to mitigate, providing clear, concise articulation of the problem and proposed solutions. Outlines program needs that are barriers to success along with potential options to rectify.
- Creates a team oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies, establishes collaboration and emphasizes quality and cost
- Demonstrates ability to provide analytical, advisory and implementation services in areas such as concept development, requirements development, facilitation, cost benefit analysis, process design and planning, performance measures, feasibility analyses, transition planning and change management.
- Proven track record at designing solutions based on customer needs and technical considerations.
- Ability to apply analytical expertise to assist in defining, analyzing, validating and documenting complex process or organizational solutions.
Viewed as company thought leader and seen as valued key partner in decision-making.
- BA/BS degree and/or equivalent education and experience
- 10+ years of management consulting and project management experience (to included managing multiple long and short-term projects)
- 5+ years experience in tracking, planning projects, working with large data sets and making data-driven analytical decisions
- Minimum 5 years experience in a managed health care business environment, preferably in the managed health care field.
- Knowledge of system development lifecycles and documentation standards
- Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work and continue to monitor and make changes to work as the project needs dictate
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive projects and be self-directed and motivated
- Identifies as well as resolves issues and roadblocks inhibiting completion of milestones
- Demonstrated history in navigating cross functional/cross segment, enterprise groups and possess high tolerance to stress and the ability to handle difficult situations in a confident and diplomatic manner within a large matrix organization
- Provides leadership, organization and methodology to a multi-functional matrixed project team
- High proficiency with MS Word, Excel and especially MS Project
