Financial Management Group (FMG) - Management Reporting for Macquarie Securities Group (MSG) Fixed Income Currencies Commodities (FICC)

The Finance Division supports Macquarie's operating areas by providing financial product control, financial planning, capital management, management reporting and budgeting and divisional accounting services. The Division is located in nearly all locations where Macquarie has operations. The Product Control group is structured along business lines with a dedicated team co-located with, and providing support to, each operating area.
This is a challenging, valued and visible role within Macquarie's Financial Management Group. The individual will be working in the NY Management Reporting group supporting mainly the MSG US Equities business, responsible for aiding management in analysing key drivers of the business' revenues and expenses. He/She will also be working closely with the offshore Group Financial Services (GFS) team based in India, reviewing work they have prepared, as well as seeking further opportunities to transfer work to GFS where appropriate. To a lesser extent Management reporting will also be required for the FICC group on an 'as needed' basis.
In this role, the individuals responsibilities will include:
- GL review of month end close entries prepared by offshore team
- Collaborate with product control team on predicting expected monthly result and communicate to head office in Sydney, Australia
- Monthly/Quarterly Balance Sheet and PL variance analysis commentary
- Detailed expense trends analysis, including changes in headcount and other drivers of change
- Preparation of financial reporting management packs presented to the business on a monthly basis
- Enhance controls and streamline processes to improve efficiency
- New company setups cost centre setups
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Work closely with regional COO on monthly forecasting and annual budget process
- Analyse variance between actual and forecast results
- Develop detailed reporting to help decision making process
- Liaise with regional product control and regulatory reporting finance teams as well as global finance teams supporting MSG and FICC
- Assist the business in adhoc requests
To be successful in this role, the individual will have:
- 5+ years accounting experience in financial services with an international organisation or top professional firm
- CPA qualified
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management
- Good people management skills
- The ability to be 'hands-on' as well as take a high level management approach
- Ability to deal with several priorities simultaneously and maintain a flexible approach.
