Management/Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover)
A leading arts not for profit are looking for a Financial Accountant who will be responsible for preparing and updating the monthly cash flow forecasts, assisting the Financial Controller with the year end process, liaising with the outsourced payroll and pension administrators and supporting the Financial Controller to ensure internal controls, including Finance policies and systems are in place and adhered to.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Management Accounts
To prepare management accounts and gift aid declarations on a quarterly basis.
To prepare the monthly balance sheet for the management accounts.
Financial Reporting
To support the Financial Controller with the production of the consolidated statutory accounts (in accordance with UK GAAP and Charity SORP accounting) and the year end process (including liaising with the auditors);
To support the Financial Controller with the preparation of statutory accounts for the group’s two subsidiaries;
To support the Financial Controller with the preparation of reports for the Board’s Audit and Risk Committee.
Cash flow forecasting
To prepare and update monthly cash flow forecasts and reports for the organisation.
Financial policies, systems, controls and compliance.
To perform balance sheet reviews on a quarterly basis.
To review supplier bank changes on the weekly payment run.
To prepare the PAYE settlement computations.
Support the Financial Controller in maintaining internal controls including performing reconciliations and reviews.
Proactively improve the internal control framework of the organisation working with the Financial Controller and other team members.
To ensure that all processes within your areas of responsibility are fully and accurately documented.
To implement and maintain all internal and external audit recommendations from time to time as far as they relate to the position’s areas of responsibility.
Payroll and Pensions
To update on a monthly basis the payroll forecasting and budgeting spreadsheets with the actual payroll costs.
To liaise with the outsourced pensions administrators to ensure they receive all details of joiners and leavers of the pension scheme and to carry out general pension administration. Work with HR to provide the pension administrators with any relevant information on payroll/pension changes during the year; to collate information required for the annual pension statement exercise and to co-ordinate responses to pension queries from employees.
To collate and send on a monthly basis the payroll information to the outsourced payroll bureau.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a commercially focused finance environment. With your proactive and independent attitude to work, you will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to initiate and develop relationships across the organisation. You will be part qualified ACA or fully qualified ACCA (or equivalent) and have knowledge of Charity SORP.
