Manager – Voting, Engagement and Operations recruitment

The successful candidate will also provide support to the CEO in managing EOS operations.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1.Operations: Support the CEO in managing EOS’ operations, including – providing an interface between the business development and client functions and the voting and engagement teams; mapping and maintaining team systems and processes to ensure their efficiency and effectiveness; assessing the use of external research and other purchased services. Liaising with the Group IT function to ensure the provision of efficient and effective IT services.  Liaising with the Finance Director and other members of the management Team as required.

2.Engagement: Prepare ESG reports and engagement papers on the basis of our Corporate Governance guidelines and Group Principles. This will involve performance analysis of companies to identify long-term under-performers. Actively contribute to the work involved in engagement programmes that are approved by the relevant internal committees. The engagement activities will entail taking the lead in oral and written correspondence and where appropriate personal meetings with investee companies in certain markets under the supervision or with guidance of a senior member of the EOS team.

3.Voting: Regularly review the list of upcoming meetings on the voting platform and obtain and analyse the necessary materials for voting decisions, including the agenda, voting recommendations and the annual report. Where appropriate, undertake further research required to support voting decisions, which will often involve contact with investee companies. Independently make recommendations to or exercise votes on behalf of clients for meetings in Australia and the UK, ensuring that a consistent, value-adding approach is taken. Record any correspondence with investee companies and the rationale behind voting recommendations in the company contact database.

4.Reporting: Assist and take responsibility in the process for internal and external client reporting. This will involve collation of the textual part from various sources as well as liaising with the EOS Voting Administrator to ensure consistency with the regional and global voting statistics.

5.ESG activities: Assist and take part in ESG engagement activities of the EOS team. Initiate and take responsibility for selected ESG engagements.

6.Working with other shareholders: Develop relationships with ESG specialists and fund managers in other institutions and agencies to share information and, where appropriate, work towards a co-ordinated approach on voting and engagement issues in Australia and the UK.

7.Marketing activities: Participate in the marketing activities of EOS, which are overseen by the Director – Head of Sales and Private Markets, as required.

Job Dimensions: The UK portfolio and EOS companies advised on in Australia and the UK total over 1000 companies, all of which will hold a general meeting at which the team must vote at some point during the year. The UK and Australia team actively engages beyond voting activities with a large number of companies throughout the year.

Hours of Work 36 per week Monday to Friday

Key competencies: Excellent analytical ability, problem-solving, numeracy, adaptability, team working and networking ability, diplomacy and tenacity. Excellent written and oral communication skills, self-motivation.
