Summary
Lead a team of 20+ test engineers, both onshore and offshore, responsible for the planning and execution of the quality assurance/testing program for IMS and SIP programs. The scope of this work encompasses more than 10 major test projects within a complex, multi-vendor, multi-product IMS/SIP network environment. The IMS and SIP programs are critical to the Comcast Digital Voice offering as all existing 9 million CDV subscribers will be migrated to the IMS/SIP technology within the next 12 - 18 months. Management responsibilities include staff recruiting and development, negotiation of CapEx and OpEx funding to support the IMS and SIP project roadmap, and representing test program status to business partners and senior management.
Tasks:
- Works with customers, internal or external, to resolve escalated
issues regarding both quality of service and employee conduct.
Coordinates with other departments to resolve issues. Ensures that
work/escalated issues are addressed and completed in a timely manner and
that delays and revised timeframes are communicated to affected
parties.
- Assesses, makes recommendations to, and manages within a budget.
Makes informed decisions and choices based upon priority, business
necessity and bottom line impact.
- Manages a Quality Assurance team responsible for the planning and
successful completion of product and service testing.
- Provides guidance to the Quality Assurance and Product and Development
teams in identifying product and technical requirements. Serves as
primary point of contact between the Quality Assurance team and Product
and Development teams. Works with Program management to define schedules
and any special equipment/tool needs in order to properly test the
Products.
- Collaborates with various departments to ensure timely delivery of all
documents required to support testing.
- Directs the development of test cases and detail test scenarios for
Quality Assurance Engineers. Identifies potential test applications and
automation tools. Monitors testing, including tracking test
deficiencies, the development of improvements, and gathering metrics to
report progress to the Director.
- Provides technical leaderships and consultation with regards to test
philosophies and methodologies, practices, procedures, and techniques.
Ensures product problems are properly identified and prioritized in the
formal defect tracking system and change control process to determine
release-readiness.
- Coordinates internal and external software testers and facilities and
works with vendors to troubleshoot problems when necessary.
- Actively participate in product teams and the software development
life cycle process.
- Collaborates with Quality Assurance Director, Quality Assurance
Supervisor and, Quality Assurance Engineer 6 to identify, define, and
measure departmental key goals.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Deep knowledge of quality assurance processes including test scope and strategy, test program management, test tools and automation, performance testing, and defect management
A deep understanding of IMS and SIP technology, products, and complex IMS/SIP based networks, and strong knowledge of TCP/IP, SS7, and Call Routing
Ability to identify and define quality assurance process enhancements

Primary management responsibility is the planning and successful completion of IMS and SIP testing efforts
Develops financial and operational objectives, and ensures that operational plans are aligned with business objectives
Acts as primary point of contact between the Quality Assurance team and the Business Unit, Production Engineering, and Operations teams
Manages the support of troubleshooting/replication/RCA of Production defects
Identifies and negotiates budget requirements and program deliverables with the Business Unit and CQA senior management, and manages engineering resources in an optimal way
Manages the development of test scope and test strategy based on the requirements provided by Product Engineering and Suppliers
Interfaces with various Project Managers on multiple programs for scheduling lab configuration and test timelines
Provides guidance to the Quality Assurance and Product and Development teams in identifying product and technical requirements
Manages the documentation of testing results and recommendations in HPQC
Manages efforts to identify and develop continuous quality process, efficiency, and workload capacity improvements. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to test philosophies and methodologies, practices, procedures, and techniques
Works with CQA Lab Operations to identify test program requirements and define best practices in support of test activities.
Works with supporting teams to identify and implement automation opportunities
Provides coaching, development of the team and performance feedback.
Identifies learning and development needs, and utilizes resources that can meet those needs.
Assesses, recommends, and manages within a staff and capital budget. Makes informed decisions and choices based upon priority, business necessity and bottom line impact
Contributes to functional strategy development and CQA evolution
Has a significant degree of impact on business results through managing multiple sub-groups of employees working on a number of complex projects
