Manager
The Role:
Reporting into the regional head of Operational Risk, the successful candidate will form part of a fast developing Operational Risk team and will assume regional coverage.
The role holder will be exposed to all business lines the bank operates across including global markets, trade finance and private banking. The preferred individual will possess strong product familiarity across the Global Markets space as well as a genuine desire to contribute toward delivering results. This product familiarity could have been gained from an operations or middle office role and people from either area are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure implementation and ongoing management of the operational and strategic risk frameworks across the region
- Ensure an efficient and highly effective second layer of assurance. Risks or control weaknesses that remain un-mitigated will be appropriately escalated.
- Be a strong custodian of assets and value protection.
- Be a trusted advisor on Strategic and Operational Risk matters including optimal risk vs. reward treatment to key internal stakeholders. Provide insight and recommendations on key risks and control issues within material projects, new products or process changes. Facilitate and provide robust challenge where required.
- Support and enhance a risk / reward culture within the region
- Perform reviews on control efficiency and effectiveness
- Undertake special projects or any other tasks as required, including initiatives across Operational Risk
Candidate Background:
- At least 5 years financial services knowledge and experience. Sound knowledge of Global Markets products is required and could have been gained within back / middle office functions in addition to Operational Risk
- Strong awareness of Operational Risk management related activities
- Strong communications skills
- An ability to identify links and trends amongst multiple and varied forms of information, integrating facts about the business and the industry more broadly
