Manager – Accounting Oversight recruitment
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategy related to operational oversight of organizations providing fund accounting services to T. Rowe Price sponsored investment products as well as execution of related monitoring and reporting activities.The role involves ongoing risk analysis and the negotiation of clear accounting policies and operating practices supporting the T. Rowe Price products in order to minimize regulatory, reputational, and financial risk associated with outsourced fund accounting activities worldwide.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Using audit related skills and techniques, develops and oversees an ongoing risk-based program of oversight and monitoring of outsourced accounting activities - including liaising with other areas of GICS and the Firm that may participate in these efforts. Works proactively with GICS Strategy, Risk Compliance, Legal Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit to coordinate activities associated with the external service providers. Ensures oversight and monitoring practices are broadly understood and documented.
Serves as a subject matter expert with respect to accounting practices and regulations in various global locales and for various product types. Liaises with service providers, independent accountants, fund boards, and regulators as appropriate.
Evaluates and reports on the performance of the service providers. Provides significant input to fee negotiations, selection of service providers and other broad-based decisions.
Actively participates in relevant industry organizations and stays closely attuned to emerging trends, industry best practices and service provider capabilities. Effectively uses this knowledge to shape T. Rowe Price practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred
- CPA and a minimum of eight years related work experience with at least five years in an audit or similar role and at least three years in a significant leadership role. Experience working outside of the United States would be beneficial.
Required
- College degree and six years of related work experience involving investment operations and/or audit related responsibilities , or
- Associate degree and eight years related work experience, or
- High school diploma/equivalent and ten years related work experience.
- Ability to critically evaluate risk and conceive/develop programs to oversee and monitor external service providers
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of financial markets and the financial services industry, with a specific emphasis on mutual fund accounting principles and practices and related internal controls
- Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills
- Strong written and oral communications skills, with the ability to frame issues and provide context
- Strong relationship building skills
