Manager, Accounting Policy-Real Estate

Currently an opportunity exists for a Manager to support the embedding, development and communication of IFRS within the Business Support area of Wholesale Finance. This will require detailed review of complex debt restructurings, close interaction with the Relationship Managers, Core Finance team and Wholesale Risk. In addition the individual will assist in developing and running training courses and producing implementation guidance for the Wholesale Technical Accounting website.

Accountabilities
- To assist the Head of Accounting and Regulatory Policy in the review and sign off of all complex debt restructurings and stapled debt transactions.
- To actively assist BSU Finance in the embedding of IFRS through the review of current treatments and the resolution of issues identified.
- To work closely with BSU Finance to develop a sound reporting framework for companies or assets consolidated as a result of debt restructurings.
- To be a Divisional `centre of excellence`, providing ad hoc transaction and other advice to Back Office support staff, in addition to leading some formal training.
- In conjunction with the Head of Accounting and Regulatory Policy, liaise with Group Finance, Group Tax and Wholesale Risk to ensure that the accounting treatment is understood and implications addressed.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with the business as part of a small technical team
- Ability to manage a fluid workload and a high level of attention to detail
- Experience of reviewing transactions and determining the appropriate accounting treatment gained either within practice or industry
- Basel II regulatory knowledge desirable although this is not essential to the role
