Position Description:

EBSCO Publishing, a division of EBSCO Industries, employs over 800 professionals in their Ipswich, MA headquarters. EP’s Editorial department is currently seeking a Manager of Aggregated EContent.

The principal focus of this position is to manage all aspects of the team responsible for receipt, extraction, transformation, and loading of publisher supplied data, for EBSCO Publishing product lines. This position is responsible for both a long-term strategic focus and day-to-day operations management.

Essential Functions:

- Oversee daily EContent and Pubdata operations to ensure that capacity needs are being met and that high quality content is being delivered to customers. Responsibilities of the team include:

Automated processes used to extract, transform, and load publisher supplied structured metadata and FullText.
Inventorying and normalizing unstructured publisher supplied data, delivered via FTP and email.
Extracting and normalizing content from partner websites.
Collaborate with the Editorial Vendor Relations team to evaluate new, and manage existing, EContent related outsourcing services.

- Serve as a primary Editorial stakeholder to EP’s Enterprise Discovery Service (EDS).
- Partner with EP’s Technology teams to strengthen EContent systems and workflow.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Publisher Relations, and Technology to identify and execute strategic business initiatives.
- Develop and maintain departmental budget to track all costs and expenditures.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Publisher Relations, Technology, and Project Management to identify and execute strategic business initiatives
- Successful management of staff; providing coaching and counseling as needed to drive performance to required expectations. Specifically oversee the Supervisor.
- Drive change and implementation of process and technology.
- Communicate directly with Publishers as required as well as with other work groups within EBSCO Publishing.
- Complete tasks and projects as assigned by Editorial Director and Vice President.

Position Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Publishing, MLIS, or 4 years equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of exceptional leadership skills at the manager level

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with XML, SGML, HTML, and PDF preferred
- Experience in an Editorial Production environment strongly preferred
- Action-oriented; ability to make decisions and implement quickly.
- Proven track record of success working cross cross-functionally; up, down and across an organization
- Ability to coach and motivate team members to reach their full potential
- Strong and effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, multi-task, prioritize and delegate
- Knowledge of production controls, measurements and processes; large scale data entry procedures; database management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal communication; Excellent written communication; Leadership/supervisory experience; Positive attitude team player; Strong analytical abilities
