JOB SUMMARY:
Job Title: Manager, Ancillary Services (NY and NJ)

Reports To: Director, Ancillary Services
Position Summary:
The Manager, Ancillary Services reports directly to the Director, Ancillary Services and is responsible for staff and daily activities of the department. The Manager is responsible for recruiting, contracting and maintaining a network of ancillary providers, including delegated vendors for all lines of business for Healthfirst in New York and New Jersey. The Manager also serves as the key contact for the resolution of ancillary and delegated vendor issues as they are identified.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Ancillary Contracting staff to help them effectively manage their workload and responsibilities. Works with staff individually to mentor professional development, ensuring that each person understands his/her responsibilities and monitoring performance in MACESS and CCMS.
- Represents Ancillary Services at meetings in the absence of the Department Head. Serves as key department contact for escalation of issues from Claims, Medical Management Member Complaints, etc.
- Develops reports in conjunction with staff to assist in review of:- cost trends or vendor services- system load activities to ensure that accurate information is loaded, including demographic, payment and fee schedule information.
- Oversees and develops recruitment and strategy, as necessary, for regulatory, clinical or customer satisfaction purposes in order for Healthfirst to expand its books of business.
- Develops reports in conjunction with Provider Operations to monitor system load activities and ensure that accurate information is loaded, including demographic, payment and fee schedule information.
- Develops internal and inter-departmental policies and procedures.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and quality-checks rate proposals/contracts prior to presentation to VP.
- Makes recommendations for department improvements, such as workflows.
- Assists Director in developing and recommending cost-savings initiatives in the budget development process.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience:
3 - 5 years of healthcare experience with 3 years in ancillary services vendor management.
Technical Skills:
Position requires intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook along with basic Access.
Physical Demands:
In this position candidate constantly sits and keys; occasionally crouches, reaches, bends, walks, lifts overhead, stands, drives and travels. Must be able to occasionally lift/carry and push/pull up[ to 20lbs. Repetitive use of both hands is required.
Work Environment:
Candidate constantly works in an indoor environment.
Additional Information:
- Experience should include delegated vendor contracting and management for one or more of the following: pharmacy, dental, chiropractic, optometry or physical therapy. • Ancillary contacting experience should include dialysis, DME, free-standing radiology, hearing aid, home health, laboratory, mental health, skilled nursing and transportation.
The Manager must be able to:
- Manage a staff of at least 1- 5 employees.
- Train and monitor staff performance; present, resolve conflicts and address delicate situations.
- Speak English Fluently. Communicate professionally and courteously with all internal and external partners and with a diverse population.
- Work independently or in a team setting that is a fast-paced/changing environment, while demonstrating the level of detail required to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, while demonstrating good grammar, spelling and punctuation skills.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information and files.
- Organize and prioritize work demands effectively in order to complete all responsibilities.
- Multi-task and efficiently work in a demanding environment.
Conditions of Employment:
Employee must pass pre-employment screening which includes a background check and drug testing. Employee must present documentation to verify minimum of high school educational requirement.
