Manager, Application Services Job in Webster 01570, Massachusetts US

This position is at MAPFRE/Commerce Insurance Company located in Webster, MA.

 

Responsible for managing, coaching, and leading the efforts of technical staff.  This includes the management of projects and responsibility for production support as needed.  Work closely with customers and staff to identify automated solutions to meet business needs.  This includes directing the definition, development or acquisition, and implementation of automated systems to support the functional areas.

 

·         3-5 Years IT Management Experience and Proven Project Management leadership experience

·          Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent related experience preferred.

·          7 - 9 years or Associates Degree equivalent plus 9 - 11 years.

·          General knowledge of industry, practices, standards, and concepts within related operations and field of work. Familiarity with management practices.

·          Influences development of overall objectives including long-range goals for the organization.  Typically exercises judgment within broadly defined policies and practices. Establishes, modifies operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate units. Recommends modifications to broad operating policies which may impact projects, operations, and considerable expenditure risk and major portions of operations.  Problems are generally diverse, complex and impact major business segments.

·          Assignments are received in objective-oriented terms, and combine both strategic and tactical responsibilities.  Work is reviewed for unit's overall adequacy in meeting organizational objectives.

·          First level manager who typically manages exempt employees and or subordinate supervisors of non-exempt employees.  Direct reports typically exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.  Provides direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

·          Advises work unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Generally becomes involved in day-to-day operations only when required to resolve complex problems or meet deadlines.

·          Frequent contacts with internal and external parties at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling project phases. Communication typically involves persuasion, and negotiation with middle and senior management levels.

·          Demonstrated ability to lead, train and motivate developers and business analysts to achieve individual, department, and company goals

·          Understanding of the business and technical elements of the property and casualty insurance business preferred

·          Skilled in project management practices, techniques, scheduling, resource/budget management, scope control, and change control practices, with a thorough working knowledge of System Development Methodology

·          Proven ability to plan, organize, and control a diverse workload in a highly dynamic environment which includes application development and problem resolution with root cause analysis

·          Proven analytical, decision making, and problem solving abilities
Experience estimating project work efforts and leading others in this activity
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and verbal

·          Ability to provide staffing recommendations
A record of building effective work relationships and operating as a dependable team player

·          Able to manage group dynamics, facilitate effective team interaction, and negotiate effectively with customers, staff, and peers

·          Proficiency in the use of desktop applications

·          Ability to offer and entertain challenging ideas in a collaborative work environment

·          Demonstrate and coach for proactive, results oriented accountability
