Job Description The Manager, Business Sales manages and develops an effective, well-trained sales organization to aggressively and profitably sell company products and services, meeting or exceeding all sales objectives in a way that meets or exceeds the needs of current and prospective customers. This position requires a high degree of interpersonal skills due to the frequency and nature of contact with other CenturyLink employees and business customers. Responsibilities: Manage the recruitment, hiring, development, motivation of the sales and sales support staff within the market area to ensure the achievement of sales and revenue objectives. Manage employee development processes to meet employee training requirements and ensure a qualified, skilled work force to meet the customers? needs and ultimately achieve sales goals. Develop and implement department and individual performance objectives to ensure sales objectives to ensure sales objectives are met for the market area. Review, and evaluate employee and department performance. Provide employee guidance and counseling to ensure continual improvement in sales results during the plan year. Manage implementation of the sales strategy within the market area by developing and executing tactical Sales plans and directing the development of account plans for all business customers within the market area. Manage sales, sales support and technical teams for the purpose of meeting defined objectives. Determine and assign department sales objectives to individual employees. Develop strategies and tactics to achieve sales objectives. Monitor sales results and direct comparisons with acutal sales results to quotas and forecasts. Modify sales strategies and tactics as required to achieve assigned sales objectives. Manage sales forecasting, tracking, attainment of sales goals and reporting of sales goals and results. Manage recognition programs, short and long range sales incentive programs for the market area to include tracking of all business sales. Develop and manage the sales department operating and FEV budgets within approved budget parameters. Manage the development and implementation of training for the sales organization to enhance existing sales skills and facilitate employee growth and development. Assist with the evaluation or development of sales training programs as required. Manage the profitability of Company revenue stream for all business products within the assigned market area. Manage the implementation of CenturyLink's strategy including brand and product positioning with the market area to ensure a consistent sales message across all of CenturyLink's product portfolios. Monitor competitive conditions with the market area and make recommendations for product changes or product mix to address competitive trends and to meet changing customer demands. Keep abreast of new products, sales campaigns, sales and tracking procedures, pricing promotions and pricing discounts of competitors. Develop and implement strategies to be successful against competitor efforts within the market area. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with key customers within the market area. Manage the distribution and communication of information to employees in the market area which includes communications from the Region for new or modifications to existing services, products, regulations, standards or Company policies. Manage the implementation of new products and services including documentation of procedures and training of department staff. Develop, coordinate and manage customer targeted sales events to include but not limited to technology forums, trade shows and other local events. Participate in special projects or perform other duties as assigned.
