Manager, Category Development- Minneapolis Job in Minneapolis 55401, Minnesota Us
The purpose of this position is to provide critical insight and thought leadership to internal and external partners to support and grow the business utilizing competitive, market, industry, demographic and other pertinent data. This position is also responsible for critical ad hoc and more sophisticated commercial operations reporting.
- Leverage array of external and internal data to develop actionable insights that will change/influence consumer behavior and grow sales
- Collaborate with Sales, Demand Planning and key customer contacts to analyze complex business problems and use statistical and analytic techniques that capitalize on internal and external customer and market data to develop solutions that achieve growth and profitability.
- Manage applied analytics tools databases, and use statistical foundation to interpret results and recommend next steps.
- Create and manage more sophisticated ad hoc reporting specific to one or all accounts
- Understand, track, manage and improve data sources for product attribute data, demographic/trade area details, consumer and market insights, account and brand strategies
- Provide in depth insights to multi-dimensional problems
- Continually leverage capabilities by working with internal technical teams and potentially outside consultants to identify data and reporting system enhancements and find ways of integrating analytical tools and strategies with existing systems
Basic Qualifications
- Graduate degree in statistics, math or economics is preferred (Undergraduate degree combined with 5+ years of applicable work experience may be substituted for a graduate degree)
- Minimum 5 years of related analytical experience with the demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses using multiple tools and techniques
Additional Qualifications
- Strong analytical and statistical skills required.
- Ability to develop and manage large databases and reporting systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; communication with customers is required
- Experience with data-mining and manipulating large data sets to identify key insights
- Strong familiarity with retail market dynamics and its impact on demand patterns
- Expert level proficiency with MS Office programs, particularly Excel, and experience working with Business Intelligence Software (Business Objects a plus)
- Knowledge of store cluster analysis techniques
- Proven project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective cross functional relationships
