BE Aerospace, Inc. located in Everett, WA has the following position to fill: CERTIFICATION AND DESIGN PROCESSES MANAGER SUMMARY Develops and maintains certification and qualification processes, including the FAA Partnership for Safety Plan (PSP) and OEM qualification plans. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Develops and maintains engineering specifications for special or proprietary manufacturing processes and ensures correct implementation of these specifications. 2. Audits industry specification library for completeness and accuracy. 3. Provides input and oversight for development of certification procedures and work instructions. 4. Acts as signatory under the PSP to witness certification testing and review certification data for areas approved by FAA. Also acts as primary coordinator with OEMs for qualification activities. 5. Coordinates with company and independent DERs to ensure certification and qualification data is developed in a manner consistent with the PSP and established practices. 6. Acts as secondary focal point and technical resource for manufacturing, quality assurance, design engineering, and certification engineering to resolve certification/manufacturing issues. 7. Works with other functional group members and functional groups to improve knowledge of FAA requirements and OEM requirements. 8. Develops and maintains working relationships with regulatory agencies, OEMs, and industry partners to continually improve standing of company. 9. Attends industry working-group meetings (SAE SEAT committee, ARAC, etc.) as a representative of the company to learn industry trends and advance company positions where practical. 10. Responsible for managing team to develop, qualify, and maintain materials and processes with associated in-house and supplier qualification efforts. 11. Responsible for managing team to document and maintain technical publications, testing protocols, and processes 12. Effectively communicated changes in engineering procedures and policies to affected company personnel. 13. Performs other related duties as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises exempt and nonexempt associates from multiple functional groups for purposes of completing discrete tasks (test programs, etc.) in accordance with defined procedures. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. DISCRETION / IMPACT Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. JOB COMPLEXITY Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance requirements. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in appropriate Engineering discipline from four-year college or university; and seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements: ? Demonstrated detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements for aircraft interiors in Transport Category (14 CFR Part 25) aircraft. ? Demonstrated knowledge of general and airframe-specific certification and qualification requirements for aircraft interiors. ? Demonstrated knowledge of basic processes for inspection of parts for aviation (14 CFR Part 21). ? Demonstrated knowledge of design and manufacturing controls required for producing FAA-approved articles. ? Knowledge of manufacturing and finishing processes for aviation materials?various forms of steel, aluminum, plastic, and composite. ? Ability to apply this knowledge in an accurate and consistent manner during the development, certification, and production phases of multiple product lines. ? Excellent oral and written communication skills. ? Proficiency using standard office computer software (Microsoft® Office®, etc.). ? Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
