Job Description:

MANAGER, CODING EDUCATION - FULL-TIME SALARIED POSITION

Responsibilities and Authorities:

1. Ensures that all coders' are coding efficiently and accurately.

2. Develop and educate physician on government regulations and requirements related to coding and billing.

3. Update charge tickets to ensure compliance of codes with government regulations.

4. Work with RUMG Revenue Cycle, department and section administrators on denial management, A/R and billing opportunities.

5. Takes active roll in Epic EMR implementation.

6. Prepares reports as needed for Department Administrator, RUMG leadership including Revenue Cycle.

7. Works collaboratively with RUMG revenue cycle, to manipulate and query charge reports from billing entity to provide data to administrators.

8. Provides educational opportunities for coder growth and retention.

9. Provide statistical and special project reports as requested.

10. Manage work flow and process to ensure all charges are captured; work with Administrators and hospital administrative team on all charge flow processes.

11. Act as intermediary in dealing with billing entity, department administrators and physicians.

12. Provide group and one on one training to all new faculty relative to CPT and ICD-9 coding and documentation standards.

13. Provide group and one on one training to all new faculty as requested.

14. Determines coding needs of practices and provides oversight and management for the Centralized coding staff supporting multiple entities/specialties.

15. Ensures a program is in place to provide medical records for billing purposes timely and accurately.

16. Assists in migration of compliance from back end process to an integrated process.

17. Facilitate further development of coding/auditing education including:

Coding Level 1 Education Session

18. Responsible for ongoing communications regarding coding changes including CDM, revenue codes and documentation standards.

19. Provides specialty and physician specific training based on claim denials when working with RUMG Revenue Cycle leadership.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree preferred or six years physician billing experience required.

2. RHIT or RHIA Certification is a requirement.

3. Physician billing, Microsoft Word and Excel required

Special Requirements :

Must exercise good human relation skills in all associations with other departments and physicians. Ability to balance multiple priorities and handle challenging situations. Must behave in a professional manner at all times. Confidentiality Required.
