Manager Corporate Facilities Project Engineer

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for Corporate Facilities, specifically around space planning, personnel moves, office relocations.  In addition this position is responsible for Project Engineering, specifically the supervision, execution and coordination of various project activities in order to complete project work on time, within the allocated budget and to the quality level specified.  May be required to provide oversight to local Security and HSE personnel and coordinate activities where necessary with corporate HSE reporting lines.

This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver space planning activities and projects according to plan.  This individual will also assist with definition of individual space planning and project objectives and oversee the appropriate implementation of project controls, including quality control, throughout any individual activities duration.  At any particular time this role may be responsible for multiple projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist with the development and execution of project scope, goals and deliverables that support business requirements in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.  Develop complete project plans and associated communication documents, effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.  Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants during project execution. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.  Delegate task and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.  Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Track project milestones and deliverables. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project duration. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Assist with the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management.  Management of third-party contractors and consultant to ensure adherence to company safety policies, safe work practices and applicable SOPs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages 3-5 subordinates and assume cross functional responsibilities for project, compliance, schedule and other project related accountability and performance issues.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

An advanced degree, Bachelor’s in a biological or engineering science.

Not less than 10 years’ increasing managerial experience in GMP-regulated commercial scale cell culture-based manufacturing operations for the generation of therapeutic products.  Experience must demonstrate a track record of managing the development and implementation of projects within a manufacturing environment.

Strong (expert) familiarity with various project management software.

Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines in a prompt and efficient manner.

Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.

Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of operations, engineering or science disciplines.

Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.

Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management and other internal departments.

Ability to defuse tension among project team if the need arises.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

The ability to perform multi-faceted in-depth strategic analysis of projects and/or systems within a dynamic operating environment.

The ability to exercise independent judgment over a broad array of electronic systems and inter-dependent projects, which critically impact manufacturing practices.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
