Manager – Direct Tax Advisory recruitment

Group Finance includes central finance areas, specialist teams and divisional finance teams which supporting our front-line businesses.  Our specialist teams are; Group Chief Accountant's, Group Corporate Finance, Group Finance Business and Executive Support, Group Financial Planning and Analysis, Group Internal Audit, Global Services Finance, Group Strategy, Group Tax, Group Treasury, and Investor Relations.      

Group Taxation has bases in Edinburgh, London and Redhill, and carries responsibility for Corporation Tax and advisory matters for the Group and its subsidiaries.  The Direct Tax Advisory team is responsible for providing direct tax advice and support primarily to our Markets and International Banking division, Non Core, Global Restructuring Group and Corporate Lending, with a focus on complex structured transactions, non core disposals, securitisations, debt restructurings and tax structured transactions.

This is a high profile Manager - Direct Tax Advisory role, where you'll be working with Group Tax colleagues in assessing tax risks arising from the aligned business areas, and associated deals / transactions, including complex, high value transactions and issuances of products to the financial markets, which may give rise to reputational risk issues. You'll also provide support in Group initiatives covering tax due diligence, group restructuring and integration work, as well as general tax advisory services.    

As Manager - Direct Tax Advisory, you'll have either  AACA or CIOT qualification, or equivalent, along with a proven track record of delivery of tax advisory within a complex environment, via a professional firm or equivalent in-house advisory role. It would be highly advantageous for you to have up to date awareness of all relevant taxes, regulatory developments, accounting and overseas tax issues. In order to be successful in this role, you'll have strong communication skills and commercial awareness, along with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
