Start-up backed by 2 of the most respected VCs in Silicon Valley seeks a Senior level Engineer or Hands-on Manager with previous experience developing high-traffic ecommerce sites to join their brand new development team. Based in beautiful Palo Alto, this company is already poised to be one of the hottest start-up companies in 2012. They have been around since 2007, but chose to outsource their development while they focused on their core business. They have received a huge infusion of capital to take the development in-house and re-platform, focusing on scalability, availability, reliability, and redundancy. They are in the midst of building a team from scratch and you would be the second engineering person on the team.

What you need for this position:

- Strong eCommerce development experience
- PHP development experience
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Python, NoSQL databases, the Magento eCommerce platform and Cloud platforms a big plus
- Systems engineering pro that can enable a rapid pace of feature innovation while striking the right balance with quality, as measure in terms of performance, availability, scalability and security
- Experience working with web technologies, preferably within the ecommerce space
- Web development experience including a deep understanding of CSS, Javascript, web standards and cross-browser compatibility
- Strong software architecture and design sensibility with emphasis on clarity and reusability

What you'll be doing:

- You will be redefining the online apparel eCommerce space
- You will be involved in hands-on development of the "core" store functionality, including, but not limited to Shopping Cart, Checkout, Fulfillment Integration, and Customer Support
- Uptime is going to be the team's #1 focus, so you will be focused on building a system with availability, scalability, performance, and security in mind
- You will be involved in helping hire and lead additional member of the team as we scale out the team
