Following the financial crisis, Capital Management has been an area of intense focus for regional and large banks. With the Basel II and Basel III implementations on the horizon for Capital One, Economic Capital is expected to be an area of growth during the next few years. Treasury is expanding its Economic Capital group to meet the growing demands in this area and this role offer the potential candidate an opportunity to help build out our economic capital infrastructure.

The Manager of Economic Capital will be responsible for conducting analysis to support the development of the Company-s top-of-the-house capital requirements. He/She will also be responsible for determining and assigning equity rates to the Company-s different business lines. These equity rates provide critical inputs into the business lines- marginal decision making and assessment of vertical returns. Finally, this Manager will be responsible for determining the hurdle rates provided to the lines of business.

Overall, the Manager of Economic Capital-s output is instrumental in driving the firm's capital strategy as well as quantifying risk adjusted returns for our businesses. The function offers potential candidates with an opportunity to build a unique mix of technical and business orientation, as Treasury is able to take a Top-of-House view of all our businesses and the risks embedded in them. This individual will have the opportunity to interact with several functions, including finance, risk management and all of our lines of business on a regular basis.

Responsibilities
- Aggregation of overall Economic Capital and its allocation to the lines
- Assess the implications of prospective regulatory changes on capital (BASEL II and III)
- Provide business orientation to complex analysis presentable at Capital Strategy discussions
- Manage differential discount rate allocation process
- Develop strong relationships with constituents particularly Risk Management and Line finance
- Work with Risk Management and other constituents as the function is sophisticated

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- 3 years of experience in Economic Capital, Risk, or Corporate Finance

Preferred Qualifications
- 2 or more years of experience in financial analytical modeling using SAS
- Advanced degree beyond a bachelor-s degree
- Ability to work-through complex technical/statistical tools and distil business implications
- Working knowledge of our asset classes (card, auto, banking)
- Proven ability to lead cross functional deliverables independently
- Excellent integrative thinking, problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
