The Position: The Manager, Educational Television and KKSM Radio Operations is responsible for directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating all aspects of operations for Educational Television (ETV) and KKSM, the District’s radio station. Reporting to the Dean of Arts, Media, Business and Computer Science (AMBCS), the successful candidate will supervise production of video and radio content; programming; broadcasting; and facilities engineering of both ETV and KKSM. Key responsibilities include:
• Providing leadership and vision for the ETV and KKSM programs; collaborating with faculty, staff, and administrators to integrate both areas fully into the radio and television instructional programs and enhance the learning opportunities and environments for radio and television students, including distance learning, instructional design, and pedagogical principles of producing and presenting supplemental learning videos and distance learning courses.
• Recommending and administering policies and procedures; contributing to the development and implementation of technology-supported learning environments.
• Developing and implementing plans to explore new revenue sources, including grants; overseeing and participating in the development and administration of the ETV and KKSM budgets; participating in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; planning for future program expansions and equipment upgrades.
• Developing relationships with business and industry that are appropriate with the College’s mission to prepare students for transfer and future employment, including keeping current with shifts in technology to ensure the academic learning environment parallels trends in the marketplace.
• Supervising the District’s team of ETV and KKSM staff.
• Ensuring compliance with the Federal Communication Commission’s and other applicable agencies’ regulations.
The Department: ETV and KKSM are a part of the AMBCS Division. ETV serves college students, faculty and staff through the creation and use of media-rich content. KKSM is a student operated station with students filling the positions of show hosts, newscasters, reporters and sportscasters. Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in television and/or radio broadcasting, communications, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Five years of full-time equivalent increasingly responsible experience in television production and/or radio operations, including two years of administration or supervisory experience.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college.
Preferred:
• Coursework beyond the minimum qualifications in television and/or radio broadcasting, communications, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Management and/or teaching experience at a community college.
• Management experience at a college radio and/or TV station.
• Industry experience with emerging production and communication technology, new media and online delivery systems.
Employment, Salary, and Benefits:
This is a full-time, 12-month-per-year classified administrator position. This position is specially-funded and its continuation is dependent upon availability and/or continuation of funds. Initial starting salary placement is $70,674 annually. A maximum initial placement of $86,086 annually is negotiable dependent upon education and experience. Administrators that possess earned doctorates from accredited institutions are awarded an annual stipend of $1,282.
Fully-paid employee benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents; and life, disability, and long-term care insurance. Estimated value of these employer-paid benefits is approximately $23,320 annually. All classified administrators are enrolled in PERS (Public Employees Retirement System).
