Overview:
This position supports functional and line management in assuring Environment, Health, and Safety programs and activities conform to federal, state and local regulations and company requirements and procedures. This position is responsible for providing technical and subject matter expertise on general EHS issues, including knowledge of applicable regulations and company requirements, current best practices, and identification of pragmatic solutions. Coordinates Environment, Health and Safety site program functions, including but not limited to: Industrial Hygiene Containment Control, Hazard Communication, Lab Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid and Emergency Response, Waste Management, Wastewater and Storm water Management. Also supervising activities of the Environmental Specialist on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Support VP of Operations and other EHS personnel in the development and implementation of EHS management systems, policies, procedures training programs to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, Teva requirements, and "best practices" relevant to operations at the TAH, St. Joseph facility.
- Responsible for ensuring the completion of periodic EHS program inspections, including but not limited to, laboratory safety, respiratory protection, fire prevention, housekeeping hazardous waste, oil spill prevention and storm water. Maintain electronic MSDS system (currently Teva uses SiteHawk for management of MSDSs). Complete Material Master SAP product hazard communication labeling.
- Implements, or assists in development and implementation, of safety, health, environmental related controls to include modification of guidelines, procedures, and practices, engineering controls and equipment.
- May serve as Emergency Action Coordinator and/or Incident Commander and participate or leads various EHS Committees/Teams. Acts as deputy to site Leader. Act as the facility's resource for OSHA, EPA (including MD EPA) regulations and parameters.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast paced and dynamic environment, including EHS audits/inspections, IH monitoring and supporting production changes and increases.
- Direct and develop EHS training.
- Lead incident investigations.
- Write site specific job procedures.
- Assure that all required reporting is done in a timely manner.
- Follows Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Supervise activities of the Enviornmental Specialist.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational/Environmental Health Sciences or other major science (Chemistry, Biology). Individuals with equivalent combination of education, training and related experience will be considered.
- 5 + years experience in Health and Safety functions and or performing technical tasks (e.g. industrial hygiene sampling, wastewater monitoring, etc.) required.
- CIH, CSP, SHMM, PE certifications highly desirable, but not required.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state and local regulations and their applicability to situational operations.
- Familiar with NIOHS/EPA sampling protocols, various personal protective equipment (PPE) devices, audit protocols, sampling equipment and calibration techniques.
- Ability to use basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.)
