Manager, Environmental Health & Safety Job in Commerce 90040, California US
Manages and implements company – wide environmental compliance and employee safety programs. Ensure environmental compliance at multiple facilities and act as a liaison in any contacts with OSHA, AQMD, EPA and local agencies. Manages and controls administration of environmental compliance programs such as storm water, hazardous materials and chemical handling programs, AQMD regulations and chemical inventories in warehouse (MSDS). Manages and implements corporate safety programs including chemical handling, ergonomics, safe lifting, forklift training ect.
Qualification Include:
- Position requires a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, or related discipline. Advanced degree in environmental science, chemistry, or related discipline is desirable.
- In the absence of formal education, experience that is equivalent and directly related may be substituted.
- Position requires 5 to 7 years of experience in environmental compliance with a proven track record in the duties listed above.
- Prior management experience desirable.
- Work experience in a food warehouse/distribution operation or food manufacturing operation is desirable.
- Position requires an in-depth understanding of environmental compliance including industrial wastewater, hazardous material handling, AQMD requirements, and storm water compliance.
- Must have in depth knowledge of USEPA, RMP, and OSHA PSM plan.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and associated business software (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred).
- Must have demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Requires excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions.
- Significant travel to multiple facilities across west coast is required.
- Requires the ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.
