Department Description: The Corporate Finance Department at WMG is responsible for overseeing all of the financial operations of the company in partnership with the finance groups within the labels and individual companies within WMG. The department provides financial reporting, accounting, planning, budgeting, and financial compliance and auditing for the company.
High Level Job Description: The Manager FPA role is responsible for the preparing and reporting consolidated budget, forecast and actual results to senior management.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
- Analyze the annual budget and quarterly forecasts submitted by RM, MP and Corporate. Prepare a consolidated budget/forecast package that will provide senior management with insight into variances vs. prior forecasts and periods, revenue growth and composition, artist profitability, AR investment and other areas.
- Analyze and explain the actual monthly financial results of Recorded Music, Music Publishing and Corporate. Prepare monthly financial packages that provide the CFO with insight into the business via various business metrics, profitability analysis and recognition of specific trends. Understand the impact monthly results have on updated quarterly and annual outlook (flash).
- Prepare a business and financial package that examines both the company’s earnings and short-term projections, as well as the marketplace and competitive landscape. This package is distributed to all board members and senior management monthly.
- Assist the external reporting group with monthly close process and quarterly financial package that the CFO and Corporate Communications department use to communicate results to the investment community via press releases and earnings calls
- Prepare regular consolidated flash updates and summary analysis to CFO.
- Prepare various ad-hoc analyses.
- Track and review global restructuring and costs savings and coordinate cash impact with manager of cash forecasting.
- Coordinate and manage monthly foreign exchange restatement process. Requires coordination with treasury department, HFM systems department, and the foreign affiliates.
Required Competencies/Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance concepts and principals in conjunction with excellent verbal, analytical, written and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Ability to identify and solve problems
- Ability to deliver value added analyses
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint
- Experience with Financial Reporting/GL systems (Hyperion/HFM is a plus but not required)
- 3-5 Years of finance or accounting experience
