The UTC's Global General Procurement organization is seeking an experienced supply management professional to lead the Energy commodity category. UTC's Energy procurement strategy is focused on global deregulated energy markets, including North America, APAC, and EMEA.
The Manager will play a key role in developing and executing UTC's Global Energy procurement strategy and will be responsible for managing spend, writing and maintaining corporate contracts, and driving integration across the various UTC business units.
- Leverage UTC Energy requirements, by region, in order to reduce supplier margins.
- Lead cross functional teams to develop regional Energy contracts by region which control supplier margin and ensure complete transparency. These contracts must support the evolution of UTC's Energy management strategy from short term fixed price positions to longer term fee based contracts.
- Utilize Energy market intelligence and web-based tools to improve the management of the global Energy portfolio.
- Develop an Energy price risk management program.
- Manage Supply Management's 8-step sourcing process including: global market research, price/cost analysis, industry trends, commodity best practices and industry benchmarking. Have direct accountability for the successful implementation and execution of corporate wide strategies and the subsequent delivery of significant benefits to the company.
- Negotiate leveraged contracts within delegated limits of authority for strategic commodities and services. Develop negotiating strategies with input from internal stakeholders and take the lead commercial role during negotiations.
- Champion Suppler Gold, Supplier Diversity and low-cost sourcing initiatives for managed suppliers; proactively identify and establish continuous improvement and total cost reduction opportunities in cooperation with preferred suppliers.
- Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews addressing performance objectives and Supplier Gold. Use ACE tools, including standard work and benchmarking of industry best practices to improve process.
- Establish short and long-term procurement strategies for all assigned commodities. Manage existing contracts with respect to amendments, extensions, rebates and compliance.
- Monitor global energy price trends and projections along with monitoring and reporting of regulatory changes that impact UTC's energy cost.
- Represent UTC at selected industry-wide forums and symposiums.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply management or related area. MBA preferred. Certification such as AEE's Certified Energy Procurement Professional is desired.
Ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility in the area of supply management, energy commodity experience is preferred. Detailed knowledge of global wholesale and retail energy markets, energy cost structures including all regulated and deregulated components of supply with an understanding of energy transparency.
Experience should include: Negotiations, supplier and category management, benchmarking and cost management, global experience. Candidate must demonstrate prior success in influencing and driving change, as well as leading cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization.
Candidate must have a working knowledge of manufacturing operations and supporting processes and be able to navigate detailed, global supply chain requirements.
The successful candidate will have experience developing total cost analyses utilizing PowerPoint / Excel and managing projects on schedule to achieve results that meet customer requirements and deliver bottom line savings to the organization.
This position requires up to 20% travel to meet with key stakeholders and suppliers.
