The Global Commodity Manager is responsible for centralized and focused commodity management, strategic supplier management and supply chain integration for assigned commodities for all Manitowoc Cranes locations globally. In addition, develop and communicate strategic plans for assigned commodities, aligned with business unit strategies; provide global market intelligence; actively involved, through leading Commodity team, in contract development and management (both international and domestic), supplier development. Is responsible for reporting and supervising costs savings results, on his/her assigned commodities. Create value for organization in the form of year over year cost reductions. Is responsible to increase operational excellence integration of supplier, with quality, reliability and lean management of supply, by driving change through improved processes, new and/or alternative suppliers and products, and consolidation of spend while ensuring continuity of supply. This position can either be located in US or Europe. Essential Job Functions - Develop and maintain market intelligence on assigned commodities worldwide, identify trends, emerging technologies, potential supply interruption threats, and commodities cost dynamics. Provide markets forecasts to the businesses. - Work with the business units to understand their needs and processes. Design and lead the strategic integration of the regional supply bases into a global supply base. - Establish, manage and maintain (annually) the strategic plans for assigned commodities. - Develop plans to reduce risks associated with sole / single source suppliers. - Provide leadership and direction for deployment of sourcing strategies. Lead Commodity team and align other department goals and resources supporting this deployment. - Coordinate agreements at the regional level by leading contract negotiations and establishing General Terms of Contracts for assigned commodities. - Communicate Pricing Policies and Tactics for all regions. - Take ownership of the supplier relationships for the assigned supply base and actively manage the assigned commodities. Recommend sourcing activities to support the commodity strategy. - Work closely with the Cranes Purchasing Council and Cranes EVP-EMEA to set objectives and determine how value will be measured and delivered at the business and regional levels. - Monitor global execution of key commodity strategies and compliance with negotiated agreements by purchasing staff across the globe. Collect, analyze and communicate relevant information to stakeholders. Job Requirements/Working Conditions Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of eight years of progressive purchasing sourcing experience in heavy equipment industry required. - Must be willing to travel up to 40% of the normal work period both domestically and internationally. Preferred Qualifications: - Solid functional experience in procurement/supply chain management, manufacturing operation. - Strong negotiation skills - Experience with e-sourcing and strategic sourcing methodology and tools - Experience developing complex, performance based supplier contracts - Appropriate professional certification and credential preferred (C.P.M., C.P.S.M., C.P.I.M. ) - Ability to interact and negotiate within all level of the organization - Ability to lead and work in a matrix and networked team environment - Ability to facilitate and moderate multi-cultural team effort - Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain both internal and external relationships - Synthetic written and verbal communication skills. - Strong analytical and problem solving skills - Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks based on business needs. - Ability to work with minimum supervision in a rapidly changing environment - Mastery in project management tools and processes - English fluent and other languages appreciated J2W:WAB EEO STATEMENT The Manitowoc Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
